Why Are We Here?

The concept of evolution is that a species incrementally changes to survive its environment.

As the human or Homo sapien species has “evolved” stunning inventions have occurred from the minds of a few.

The concepts of Socratic Theory, colloquially known as Western Civilization, have continued to advance through the words and writings of incredible historical minds and souls.

Plato, Aristotle, Jesus, Shakespeare and Adam Smith were all fundamental in the explosion of the ultimate question in a most special place.

Why am I here?

What is my purpose?

Of course evolution does not come to all humans equally.

It is but a simple search on YouTube to see the rotting mess of vanity.

Furthermore the nightly local news will provide many examples of those who have no purpose in life including those doing the reporting.

Very few on the planet will ever be “special”.

In fact only those who come to this humble epiphany are afforded a temporary respite from the evolutionary madness of fight or flight imbedded in our own central nervous systems.

A glimpse at peace, at love, at the opportunity to observe the beauty and keep the beast at bay.

The silent soul that asks why am I here and then smiles when no answer is given.

We are here because we are.

Intuitively we know that most minds will never grasp this, and for many this concept will not be understood, even now as the words are read.

Whether we attribute that to Locke or Rousseau is interesting yet meaningless.

Causation doesn’t appear to matter anymore as too many are not looking for answers, due to the belief, that they have them all.

This is the self-induced prison the human animal has willingly entered.

Comfortable and secure in its basic needs being met, without having to learn, stretch or suffer.

The acts of Edison, Tesla, Bell, Salk, and even Jobs are returning from their existential high of invention, of enlightenment, and are providing us with a very Newtonian understanding.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

In spite of electricity, vaccinations, and instant communication, the world is still on fire.

Some may even argue the temperature has overtaken sanity.

I often wonder at the internal combustion of one Thomas Jefferson.

I do not wonder at the man’s greatness with the quill rather what it felt like when his brain fired so brilliantly, his mind proffered words, that would indeed change the course of human interaction . . . for the better.

“When in the Course of Human Events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”

That they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

This incredible cognizant did just that and rewarded the People with his next statement.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

In one word . . . Freedom.

I can only imagine that for a brief moment the world stopped.

At least I like to think so.

A tiny moment, an inflection of light so bright that the human animal could collectively evolve.

As stated earlier, this gift from Jefferson was not embraced, by the overwhelming majority of the species.

There was however one place that grasped this concept that Man had a right, nay a duty, to stand and deliver.

Deliver on the gift of Free Will, on the promise of a new day, on the concept that their children and their children’s children would have a better life than thee.

This place was named the United States of America and She is currently under attack.

Why are you here?

What is your purpose?

I know mine and for those of you who do I’ll see you at the front.

No more questions need be asked.
