Did AOC Call Pelosi a Racist?

by Daveda Gruber:

The ‘race card’ was played by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, on Wednesday. The freshman congresswoman pulled out her ‘ace in the hole’ and showed her hand to Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.

AOC hit Pelosi hard, suggesting that she was “singling out” herself and her colleagues based on their race.

Congress passed a border funding bill that four Democratic Congresswomen opposed. That caused a feud that has been festering between Pelosi and the four opposing freshmen representatives who are, Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass..

Pelosi had told the New York Times, “All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world, but they didn’t have any following. They’re four people, and that’s how many votes they got.”

On Wednesday, Ocasio-Cortez told The Washington Post that the “persistent singling out” by the Speaker may be more than “outright disrespectful.”

AOC went on to say, “When these comments first started, I kind of thought that she was keeping the progressive flank at more of an arm’s distance in order to protect more moderate members, which I understood.”

She continued, “But the persistent singling out … it got to a point where it was just outright disrespectful … the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color.”

On Tuesday Ocasio-Cortez had already said, in an earlier interview, that Congress was using women and minorities as “bargaining chips.”

She said, “When it comes to women of color in Congress, particularly the freshmen, it’s that we both have encountered and represent communities that have been auctioned off and negotiated off for the last 20 years. And we’re over it.”

AOC continued, “We see in these negotiations all the time— it’s like fighting for black communities or policies that help women. They’re bargaining chips. And they’re the first chips that are reached for in any legislative negotiations.”

Those comments have enraged Pelosi. On Wednesday, she slammed back with, “You got a complaint? You come and talk to me about it. But do not tweet about our members and expect us to think that that is just okay.”

There is apparently, a feud going on in the House of Representatives. The four progressives are not in alliance with Pelosi. They don’t listen to others who have been in government for a lot longer than they have been.

Some may say that this is appealing and that people should think for themselves and not just go along with the established Politian. Pelosi is more comfortable when she is in control of those around her and doesn’t like when she is put behind the eight ball.

The family feud in the Democratic party doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. Pelosi and the group of four don’t seem to be on the same page. Is Pelosi out of touch with her own party? Maybe, she is.

Personally, I’m not taking sides. I don’t agree with either side. Let them bicker and waste their energy.

It is my opinion that when the unity in a party is destroyed, the power of that party is at stake. Look at the Republicans. The GOP has different views within it. There are Libertarians who have their own way of thinking and there are Republicans, in name only, who vote with Democrats often.

We, on the right, have witnessed lack of unity. The Democrats, however, were pretty much united. That is over now. Fighting within the same party never helped anyone. The right has narrowly avoided destruction because of it and now Democrats are the ones who are divided.

AOC Says Border Detention Centers are Concentration Camps

by Daveda Gruber:

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez D-N.Y., has likened southern  border facilities to concentration camps.

National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) Vice President Art Del Cueto, was not going to sit back and listen to Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s opinion without criticizing her.

Ocasio-Cortez posted to Instagram and said in her video,  “The fact that concentration camps are now an institutionalized practice in the land of the free is extraordinarily disturbing.”

See the video here:

Del Cueto was on “America’s Newsroom” on Tuesday morning and he expressed his frustration with her statements.

Del Cueto then offered to personally escort the freshman lawmaker around a facility to prove his point about the humane treatment given to migrants.

He also made a point to offer advice to Ocasio-Cortez by stating that she should “crack open a history book” about the Holocaust before making such comparisons.

Del Cueto said, “It is definitely a slap in the face to a lot of those people who had family members who actually went through concentration camps.”

Ocasio-Cortez has proven not to be fan of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement or ICE to be abolished.

In February AOC claimed that “Latino people are descendants of Native people” and should not be subject to U.S. immigration laws.

AOC tweeted this last year:

These are recent tweets from AOC:

AOC got some feedback tweets, this is one of them:

President Trump has actually responded in a very different way. Trump apparently has a plan of his own to stop illegal immigration. ICE will now be returning illegal immigrants to their own countries.

If we don’t keep the illegal migrants here in the U.S., we won’t have to detain them in detention centers. Problem solved. Case closed.

Well, this has been a long time coming. ICE agents will now be allowed to do their jobs.

AOC Pushing for Magic Mushroom Research

by Daveda Gruber:

On Friday Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., filed legislation to make it easier and possibly legal for researchers to study the therapeutic and medical benefits of psychedelic drugs. The drugs would include “magic mushrooms” in the study.

An appropriations bill, as far as Ocasio-Cortez is concerned, needs the amendment to end the rider that prohibits federal money being spent on “any activity that promotes the legalization of any drug or other substance in Schedule I” of the Controlled Substances Act.

There has been research at several universities into their effectiveness in treating mental health issues and addiction with the use of psychedelic drugs.

The Mushrooms were made illegal across the globe during the 1960s and 1970s.

Psilocybin is the active component of so-called “magic mushrooms,” and MDMA, commonly referred to as “ecstasy.” The drug has “shown promise in end of life therapy and treating PTSD,” a summary of Ocasio-Cortez’s proposal says.

The summary states that “Academics and scientists report that provisions like this create [stigma] and insurmountable logistical hurdles to researching Schedule I drugs.”

Mushrooms and peyote are entheogenic substances and have been widely used by Native Americans for centuries. Now it seems that people are looking at them differently.

Researchers from Johns Hopkins University recommended that psilocybin be reclassified for medical use. Its benefits include helping treat PTSD, depression and anxiety and helping people stop smoking.

Matthew Johnson, an associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Johns Hopkins told the New York Times, “In the 1960s, they were on the cutting edge of neuroscience research and understanding how the brain worked. But then it got out of the lab.”

Johnson went on to say that as the substances gain more mainstream acceptance for their medical uses, it could be a game changer for treating mental illness.

He said, “I see this as a new era in medicine. The data suggests that psychedelics are powerful behavioral agents.”

AOC could give researchers a way to study the possibilities that the drug has.

She tweeted this:

Okay, I won’t go into all the responses to the tweet but a few were suggesting that maybe AOC has taken LSD. While noting the other statements and tweets that the freshman House Rep. has said or posted in the past, This was not such a wild accusation.

One Twitter user tweeted this:

Voters in Denver passed a measure in May that makes the personal use and possession of psilocybin mushrooms by those 21 years of age or older Denver’s “lowest law-enforcement priority.” People seem to be for this in certain areas of the country. Denver’s cannabis businesses are not permitted to sale of this drug but its users are not arrested or prosecuted.

This past Tuesday, Oakland City Council passed a resolution to decriminalize psilocybin mushrooms.

This vote would make the investigation and arrest of adults who grow, possess, use or distribute entheogenic plants one of the lowest priorities for police. No more city funds could be used to enforce laws which criminalize the substances. The Alameda County district attorney would stop prosecuting people who have been apprehended for use or possession.

Coming up on Monday, the House Rules Committee, which prepares bills for action on the floor, will decide whether either or both of the drug policy reform amendments will be allowed for votes when the full body considers the funding legislation later in the week.

Altogether, more than 500 amendments have been submitted to the spending bill so far..

Let me be clear that I don’t know the sensation that people get when ingesting ‘magic mushrooms’ but I hope that it helps with mental illness, including depression.

I do know, by way of research, that similar to an LSD trip, tripping on magic mushrooms can cause a distorted sense of space, time and reality. Like LSD, magic mushrooms don’t technically cause hallucinations, or visions of things that aren’t actually there. Instead, they distort the perception of actual objects.

Some people may enjoy a distorted perception but I for one, will not try the drug.

Gloom and Doom for the Future in Ten Years?

by Daveda Gruber:

We’ve been told, just recently, that our planet has twelve more years to exist. This news came to us from no other than the infamous Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

It appears that the media darling isn’t the only person who is putting fear in the hearts of earthlings. A 2020 runner for the presidency has said that the earth has only ten years to exist. What? Yes, if “Beto” Robert Francis O’Rourke is correct, no one is going to be around on this planet if we don’t address climate change.

Ocasio-Cortez made a statement at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event with Ta-Nahesi Coates, who is an American author, journalist and comic book writer.

Ocasio-Cortez told Coates, “Millennials and people, you know, Gen Z and all these folks that will come after us are looking up and we’re like: The world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change and your biggest issue is how are we gonna pay for it? This is the war — this is our World War II.”

Check out this tweet:

On Monday Beto, the Democratic presidential candidate, warned that civilization could have only “ten years” left on Earth if nothing is done to combat climate change.

Beto has hopes of reaching zero carbon emissions by 2050 but at a rather high cost. The former Texas congressman laid out his first major policy proposal of his candidacy.

Beto’s policy for his climate change proposal would cost $5 trillion in over ten years.

O’Rourke appeared on MSNBC and was asked about his prior support from the oil and gas industry and whether the relationship would be a problem going forward.

MSNBC host Chris Hayes asked Beto, “Do you see the oil and gas industry as an opponent in that? Won’t you have to declare yourself in opposition to their interests?”

Check this out:

O’Rourke’s response was “yes,” but said he is optimistic that the industry will take part in his initiative.

O’Rourke told Hayes, “We know that certain oil and gas corporations have been fighting public policy on this issue, have been hiding their own science and research at the expense of our climate and human life. So whenever those two things come in contrast or in opposition, I’m always going to choose the people of this country.”

Beto continued, “Having said that, I want to make sure those who work in the oil and gas industry, those who work in the fossil fuel industry are brought along as partners to make sure that we make this transition in the ten years we have left to us as the science and scientists tell us to make the kind of bold change that we need.”

O’Rourke also said, “We cannot afford to alienate a significant part of this country and we cannot do this by half measure or by only half of us. It can’t be Democrats versus Republicans, bit cities versus small towns, we all have a shared interest in a cleaner future for this country. So I’m going to work with, listen to everyone anytime, anywhere to make sure that we advance this agenda and get to net zero green house gas emissions by 2050.”

Whether we have ten or twelve years left on the planet isn’t the biggest issue but certain gloom and doom seems to be a major talking point for most Democrats running for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020.
