Is Nancy Pelosi Getting Coal for Christmas?

by Daveda Gruber:

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi D-CA., cannot be celebrating Christmas in a cheerful way. After all, she is holding onto the articles of impeachment that were supposed to go to the Senate.

Pelosi has had some frustration with the press when asked about why she broke tradition and rules for the first time in the nation’s history and did not hand the articles of impeachment to the Senate.

She actually snapped at a reporter who asked her about why she didn’t give the articles to the Senate and said, “Any other questions because I’m not going to answer any more questions on this… I’m not going to go there anymore.”

Does Pelosi think she can extend her rule to the Senate as well as the House? Maybe she’s living in an alternate universe? That universe must have a nice collection of spirits, in particular, vodka.

She has explained that she wants to make sure that the trial in the Senate, which holds a Republican majority is fair.

Watching the impeachment hearings to investigate if impeachment had cause in the House of Representatives was painful for me. There was no fairness. But then, the House has a Democratic majority and Pelosi is their leader.

Pelosi has no constitutional authority to make demands on the Senate’s procedure. But, would she even understand that? The Founding Fathers must be rolling over in their graves after being referred to more during the past few weeks than in decades. Democratic lawmakers seem to believe that by evoking the Constitution, you make the public think that you are doing things in a lawful manner.

Unfortunately, Republicans are much more intelligent than Democrats give us credit for. We actually pay attention to politics and we’re very aware when we are being fooled or lied to by the mainstream media.

Our system of government was created to not let government get out of control with power.

The truth of the matter is that Madame Speaker is obsessed with power and she is mistaken if she believes that the House has any power over the Senate.

Maybe Pelosi would like to change the rules, but fortunately for us, she can’t.

In responses to criticism from across the aisle that questioned her motives, she  answered, “Frankly, I don’t care what the Republicans say.”

Needless to say, Pelosi has two comrades in her quest. Adam Schiff D-CA., and  D-NY., are Pelosi’s chief clowns. They have created an unfair and unjust atmosphere that is beyond what I ever could have fathomed could actually take place.

Democrats have claimed that President Trump presents an immediate threat to our country and its security. They maintain that the need to eject him from office is an urgent matter. They could not afford to wait until November when voters, through an election, will have the chance to decide the fate of the president.

Because of such an emergency, people were told that House Democrats did not have the time to subpoena the witnesses they thought would make their case. Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney and former National Security Advisor John Bolton were not subpoenaed because of the lack of time.

The urgency seems to have dwindled.

The White House did bar some of the president’s aides from testifying but Schiff and Nadler could have challenged in the courts if they wanted to. They declined to do so.

Maybe Pelosi sees that the articles she has a grip on are not worth the paper that they are written on. She needs more evidence and she could actually think that witnesses of her picking, could provide that.

Nancy seems to be stressed to the max. When you impeach a sitting President, in this case, President Trump, on flimsy charges that even their own constituents are bewildered about, it cannot have a happy ending.

She was asked not long ago whether she hated Trump, she didn’t respond well. Pelosi ranted about being raised a Catholic and that she doesn’t hate anyone. Really? Her hatred for Trump has been her driving force to impeach him.

Pelosi, in trying to act somber, wore black to announce the impeachment partisan vote results. Her black attire didn’t fool anyone, including me. I saw the smirk on her face.

But even with the looming of impeachment hanging over Trump’s head, his approval ratings have improved. In the 48 hours following the partisan vote, the Trump campaign collected more than $10 million and the Republican National Committee raised a record $20.6 million in November.

I believe that money talks and in this case it is the voters who are speaking with their wallets.

I must assume that the vodka will be flowing at the Pelosi household during the holidays. Drowning your sorrows in a bottle seems to be a rather popular sport for Pelosi.

It’s probable that Pelosi may get coal for Christmas.

Almost 100 MS-13 Members and Associates Arrested

by Daveda Gruber:

On Friday prosecutors in New York state announced the arrests of close to one hundred members and associates of the notorious MS-13 gang.

It was, in fact, the largest concentrated effort against the gang in the state’s history.

Investigations that began about two years ago, involved law enforcement from local to federal levels. One of the breeding grounds for the gang is Suffolk County and that is where the investigation was focused.

Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini told reporters Friday, “The goal of this investigation was to deliver a major blow to the gang’s leadership, operations and recruitment in our region . . .  we did exactly that. This operation helped end the New York program.”

According to Sini, ninety-six members and associates of the MS-13 gang were charged with crimes that range from conspiracy to commit murder to drug trafficking and weapons sales.

Those arrested range in age from 16 to 59 years of age and include U.S. citizens and illegal immigrants.

The arrests were allegedly made on Thursday and Friday mornings.

During the investigation authorities had recovered drugs in possession of gang members such as cocaine and fentanyl. Also recovered were handguns and more than $200,000 in cash.

The investigation resulted in the arrests of nine clique leaders in Suffolk County. Seven murder plots were allegedly foiled.

Sini also said, “MS-13 is a ruthless, savage gang that commits acts of violence to recruit, retain and control its members and exact revenge on its rivals as well as to extort innocent members in our community.”

During a press conference Sini held up a machete that he said was recovered during the recent arrests.

Sini stated, “This depicts how brutal and savage this gang is.”

The MS-13 gang is also known as Mara Salvatrucha. They recruit young teenagers from El Salvador and Honduras but there are also many gang members who were born in the U.S.

Dozens of murders have been blamed on the gang since January 2016. The killings occurred in New York’s Long Island, in Suffolk County, and the Los Angeles area and the D.C. suburbs.

President Trump brought the MS-13 brutal killings to the forefront and that fact has led to the crackdowns by law enforcement.

Trump Set to Approve Spending Bill

by Daveda Gruber:

On Tuesday a $1.4 trillion federal spending bill was approved in the House. The deadline to fund the government is December 20.

This bill being approved by a Democratic controlled House means that a government shutdown will be avoided.

The bill, in question, includes funding for the border wall that President Trump is in great support of and strips ObamaCare taxes on high-cost health plans and raises the minimum age for buying tobacco product from 18 to 21 years of age.

A tax on medical devices and health insurance plans would be repealed permanently. Also included was a permanent repeal of a tax on high cost “Cadillac” health insurance benefits.

There is also provision for help for retired coal miners. That would mean finance health care and pension benefits for about 100,000 retired union coal miners threatened by the insolvency of their pension fund.

Democrats succeeded in winning a 3.1 percent raise for federal civilian employees and the first installment of funding on gun violence research. This comes after more than two decades of gun lobby opposition.

The bills would fund the government for the rest of fiscal 2020, through Sept 30. All twelve spending bills brought up were approved. They now all go to the Senate.

The House Appropriations Committee chairwoman Representative Nita Lowey D-NY., said, “I am proud that we were able to come together, negotiate our differences, and reach a bipartisan agreement that makes investments to strengthen our nation and give every American a better chance at a better life.”

On Tuesday the White House said that Trump is set sign the measure.

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said, “The president is poised to sign it and to keep the government open.”

New Poll Shows These Candidates Leading

by Daveda Gruber:

A new national poll shows who is leading the still large group of Democrats in the race to become the presidential nominee for 2020.

In a NPR PBS News Hour Marist poll released on Monday which was conducted by Public Opinion Director Lee Miringoff, former Vice President Joe Biden is at 24 percent and Bernie Sanders D-VT, at 22 percent in the polling of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independent voters. The numbers are within the survey’s sampling error.

The poll was conducted between December 9th and 11th, with 1,508 registered voters nationwide, which included 704 Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents. They were questioned by live telephone operators. The margin of error for questions on the Democratic presidential primary is plus or minus 5.4 percentage points.

Other candidates are Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth is at 17 percent after slipping slightly in the poll. South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who was a long-shot climbed to 13 percent support.

Tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang is at 5 percent and Senator Cory Booker  D-NJ., Senator Amy Klobuchar D-MN., and former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg all at 4 percent.

Senator Michael Bennet D-CO, Representative Tulsi Gabbard D-HI, and former Obama housing secretary and former San Antonio, Texas Mayor Julian Castro are all at 1 percent.

All other candidate else registered at less than 1 percent.

The next debate is scheduled for December 19, 2019 at 9:00 PM at Gersten Pavilion at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California.

The field is large and diverse but the question in most American’s minds is can anyone of these candidates beat President Trump.

What say you? Can a Democratic candidate beat Trump?

Trump Supporter Trolls Bernie Sanders

by Daveda Gruber:

On Saturday, 2020 presidential candidate Bernie Sanders I-Vt., was speaking at an Iowa campaign event when a he was confronted with a Trump supporter.

Sanders was speaking when a man stood up and began to deliver a message to President Trump.

Sanders seemed to know that something was up as the young man approached the microphone with his phone.

Before the man uttered a word, Sanders said, “Oh, he’s looking at his phone. I’m in trouble.”

When the man was given the opportunity to speak into the microphone, he delivered a message directly to President Trump.

The unidentified man said, “Mr. Trump, keep going man. You’re doing a good job. You know what, I’m a liberal.”

Well, not everyone was like minded and boos came from the crowd. That silenced the young man briefly but Sanders urged the crowd to let the man speak.

The man explained that he had voted for Sanders during the 2016 Democratic primary but is now fully behind Trump.

The man spoke into the microphone and said, “I don’t agree with anything you say. I used to. I voted for you in 2016. And I’ve been to Vietnam and seen what socialism has done. It’s destroyed the lives [of many].”

People in the crowd laughed but then the man spoke about how Socialism doesn’t work.

Wearing an army green hoodie the man shouted,  “You can laugh all you want. Donald Trump is helping our country. All right? He’s a good man. Socialism does not work.”

Sanders and the man continued to shout at each other but the man was escorted out of the room.

Here is a video that shows what happened:

What Did the FISA Report Show?

by Daveda Gruber:

On Monday the inspector general for the Justice Department finally released the internal review concerning the origins of the Russia investigation.

The report concluded that there was no intentional misconduct or political bias surrounding efforts to seek a highly controversial Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant found by investigators. The warrant was, in fact, to monitor former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

Page was observed during the months at the start of the Russia investigation dealing with election interference.

At least 17 significant errors were found by the IG probe and a new audit into the FISA process and procedures will be launched.

The report, which is nearly 500 pages, said, “We did not find documentary or testimonial evidence that political bias or improper motivation influenced the FBI’s decision to seek FISA authority on Carter Page.”

The unverified dossier that was compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele was undoubtedly anti-Trump but former FBI bosses James Comey and Andrew McCabe were shown as not acting with political bias.

Even the overall surveillance efforts targeting Page to secure the original FISA warrant for him in October 2016, were shown to have no bias, as reported by IG Michael Horowitz and his investigators.

Representative Devin Nunes, R-Calif., and the Republicans have contested the FISA warrant and the subsequent renewal applications. They claim that the FBI misrepresented key evidence and omitted exculpatory information used to support the warrant application came from the dossier compiled by Steele, who the Horowitz team has questioned why the FBI considered him to be a credible source.

The question of why news reports were used to make Steele look more credible was also brought to the FBI.

The Inspector General claims that his team has reviewed over one million records and has conducted over 100 interviews, including several witnesses who agreed to be interviewed just recently.

Page, who has been investigated as a foreign agent, has been vocal about his belief that he was unjustly targeted and not interviewed for the Horowitz probe and never charged with a crime.

Horowitz is scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday morning to answer questions about his probe.

This investigation is over as far as Horowitz is concerned but Barr has assigned the U.S. attorney for Connecticut, John Durham, to conduct an inquiry into alleged misconduct and alleged improper government surveillance, which are criminal in nature, on the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential election.

At this time, former Deputy Director of the FBI, Andrew McCabe, has been criticized by Horowitz in a separate inquiry for statements that were made by McCabe during a Hillary Clinton related investigation of which he has maintained no wrong doing and has not been indicted but he is facing possible federal charges.

American Student Held in Iran Free in Prisoner Swap

by Daveda Gruber:

A prisoner exchange has led to an American graduate student, who was being held in an Iranian prison for over three years, was released in an exchange for an Iranian scientist.

It was announced by both Iran’s foreign minister and the White House that Princeton University graduate student Xiyue Wang was exchanged for scientist Massoud Soleimani, who was being held in an Atlanta jail over accusations that he violated U.S. sanctions.

U.S. special representative for Iran, Brian Hook, accompanied Soleimani to Switzerland to make the exchange and will return with Wang.

The prisoner swap took place in Zurich. Hook and Wang are now en route to Landstuhl in Germany where Wang will be examined by doctors. Hook is expected to return to the U.S. from Germany but not with Wang as he will undergo medical evaluation for several days.

The U.S. had repeatedly called for his release.

The White House released a statement on Saturday in which President Trump said, “After more than three years of being held prisoner in Iran, Xiyue Wang is returning to the United States. The highest priority of the United States is the safety and well-being of its citizens.”

Trump went on to say, “Freeing Americans held captive is of vital importance to my Administration, and we will continue to work hard to bring home all our citizens wrongfully held captive overseas.”

On Saturday Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Wang was on his way back to the United States where he will be reunited with his wife and son.

In a statement Pompeo said, “The United States will not rest until we bring every American detained in Iran and around the world back home to their loved ones.”

Wang had been sentenced to ten years in prison for allegedly “infiltrating” the country and sending confidential material abroad.

Wang’s alleged crime is adamantly denied by his family and Princeton University.

Wang is a Chinese-born naturalized American citizen and a fourth-year doctoral student of history at Princeton University. According to the university, he was arrested while conducting research on the Qajar dynasty that once ruled Iran for his doctorate in late 19th and early 20th century Eurasian history.

Gua Qu, who is Wang’s wife was thrilled to hear of his release and tweeted this:

I responded to the tweet with this:

The Swiss Embassy in Tehran looks out for American interests in the country as the U.S. Embassy there has been closed since the 1979 student takeover and 444-day hostage crisis.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif posted on Twitter early Saturday ahead of the swap, and again after it was confirmed.

Here’s the tweet:

Wang’s release was negotiated with the assistance of the Swiss Embassy in Tehran, who looks out for America’s interests in the country as the U.S. Embassy there has been closed since the 1979 student takeover and 444-day hostage crisis.

It was reported by Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency that Soleimani was with Iranian officials in Switzerland.

Soleimani works in stem cell research, hematology and regenerative medicine. He was arrested by U.S. authorities on charges that he had violated trade sanctions by trying to have biological material brought to Iran.

Like Wang, Soleimani and his lawyers strongly deny his guilt.

Soleimani maintains that he seized on a former student’s plans to travel from the U.S. to Iran in September 2016 as a chance to get recombinant proteins used in his research for a fraction of the price he’d pay at home.

Things are looking good for the holidays for the Wang family.

Biden Calls Man a Damn Liar at Iowa Town Hall

by Daveda Gruber:

Joe Biden, who is vying for the Democratic presidential nomination, wasn’t very happy with questions that were asked of him in Iowa at a town hall.

During some back and forth questions and answers, a man in the audience threw Biden for a loop when he stated that he wasn’t a Republican but he had concerns with Biden as the presidential candidate.

The man then said, “I’ve got two problems with you. One, is you’re damn near as old as I am. You’re too old. I’m 83 and I know damn well I don’t have the mental faculties I did [inaudible.]”

The subject was then changed to “Ukraine” and Biden’s son Hunter working for natural gas firm Burisma Holdings.

The man went on to say, “But on the other hand, you sent your son over there to get a job and work for a gas company where he had no experience. … In order to get access for the president … you’re selling access to the president just like he was.”

That must of hit a nerve because Biden shot back, “You’re a damn liar, man. That’s not true and no one has ever said that.”

Someone in the room seemed to make an attempt to take the microphone away from the man in the audience, but Biden stopped them, saying, “let him go.”

Biden came back with, “Look, the reason I’m running is because I’ve been around a long time and I know more than most people and I can get things done. And you want to check my shape? Let’s do push-ups together man, let’s run, let’s do whatever you wanna do.”

Biden went on and said, “And number two, no one has said my son has done anything wrong and I did not, on any occasion.”

Then Biden was cut off by the man who yelled out that he “never said” Biden was “doing anything wrong.”

Biden shot back, “You said I set my son up to work at an oil company! Isn’t that what you said? Get your words straight…”

The man retorted, “I hear it on MSNBC.”

Biden came back with, “You don’t hear that on MSNBC. You did not hear that at all. I’m not gonna get into an argument here.”

Well, maybe Biden has certain knowledge of what MSNBC would and would not report because it is unclear what MSNBC actually related to the man in the audience.

The man shrugged that off and said, “You don’t have any more backbone than Trump does.”

That comment was greeted with boos from the rest of the room.

The man went back to the microphone and said, “I’m not voting for you.”

Biden shot back, “Well, I knew you weren’t voting for me man. You think I thought you’d stand up and vote for me? You’re too old to vote for me.”

Biden, who is 77 years old, has been saying that with age “comes wisdom.”

Do the two go hand in hand? I’d say, not always. No one has to be intelligent to get old.

Kamala Harris Drops Out of Presidential Run

by Daveda Gruber:

On Tuesday, California Senator Kamala Harris has informed her staff that she is suspending her campaign for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

Harris wrote an email to her supporters saying, “In good faith, I can’t tell you, my supporters and volunteers, that I have a path forward if I don’t believe I do. So, to you my supporters, it is with deep regret — but also with deep gratitude ˗˗ that I am suspending my campaign today.”

Harris had come into the race in January and was a top contender.

In recent months, Harris has fallen drastically in the polls and money hasn’t been all that easily obtained from donors.

Harris tweeted this:

Two months before the lead-off Iowa caucuses, Harris’ campaign has not raised enough money to cover expenses.

In November, Harris cut her staff in New Hampshire substantially to focus on Iowa.

New Hampshire holds the first primary in the race for the White House.

This is the end of Harris’ run for the presidency but it may not be the last we see of her. Depending on which candidate actually wins the Democratic top spot, Harris may be asked to run in the Vice President slot.

Bloomberg News Banned from Trump Events

by Daveda Gruber:

On Monday, President Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign manager, Brad Parscale announced that Boomberg News will no longer be able to access press credentials.

Boomberg News has made it clear that it will not investigate its namesake and owner, Michael Bloomberg or other Democratic presidential candidates during the run for president but they will continue to investigate President Trump.

The decision to not investigate Democrats running for the highest office in the land was made last week.

Parscale submitted a statement which he wrote that says, “The decision by Bloomberg News to formalize preferential reporting policies is troubling and wrong. Bloomberg News has declared that they won’t investigate their boss or his Democrat competitors, many of whom are current holders of high office, but will continue critical reporting on President Trump.”

The way Parscale sees it is that “most news organizations don’t announce their biases so publicly.”

Parscale wrote, “Since they have declared their bias openly, the Trump campaign will no longer credential representatives of Bloomberg News for rallies or other campaign events. We will determine whether to engage with individual reporters or answer inquiries from Bloomberg News on a case-by-case basis. This will remain the policy of the Trump campaign until Bloomberg News publicly rescinds its decision.”

Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said the GOP is in agreement with the decision.

McDaniel tweeted:

Unfair reporting has been a thorn in the side of Trump, his administration and his supporters since his inauguration in January 2017.

It appears that “Fake News” doesn’t even get concerned over journalistic integrity. They’re not even trying to deny what they do but instead are displaying their intentions out in the open.

This is not what I learned that journalism is about. It is, in fact, the opposite.
